If you live in Wisconsin, an old fashioned is as common as beer when it comes to adult beverages. This fall version combines the flavors of local apple cider with bourbon, brandy, bitters, homemade maraschino cherries and cinnamon candies in a large dispenser with smoked cinnamon sticks and wood pellets.
6-8Granny Smith applescarved into heads and dried overnight
In a blender, combine cherries, bitters and cinnamon candies. Blend into small pieces. Pour mixture into a large glass drink dispenser.
Add cider and remaining ingredients. Stir to combine. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Just before serving, add ice and serve with cherries and cinnamon stir sticks for garnish.
For a smokey twist, add smoke to the dispenser prior to adding liquid by igniting wood chips or pellets with a torch, then inverting the dispenser over the smoke, letting the container fill up with smoke.
