Jena Carlin is a freelance commercial and editorial photographer, videographer, and cookbook author. After receiving her BFA in painting (with a minor in photography), she dedicated herself to storytelling through the medium of photography. While food photography is her specialty, she is also passionate about lifestyle, product, and fashion photography.
Executing photo shoots from conceptualization and art direction to final imagery, Jena does not stop there. She is also an experienced set stylist with a unique eye for building a scene. Her background in art has led to work painting room sets and textured surfaces and custom backgrounds for her many clients. This dedication to the whole process has led to many exciting clients including Kohls, Reader’s Digest, Maurice’s, and Martha Stewart where her work has been published nationally.
Perfectly situated between the Midwestern hubs of Chicago and Minneapolis, Jena operates out of her photography studio, a 3,500 sq ft historic building in charming Auburndale, WI. With plenty of open space for diverse photography and events, a kitchen for food styling and cooking, and the prop storage of any stylist’s dreams, the studio is the perfect fit for both hosting clients and completing work remotely.
Her process is capturing the client’s envisioned hero image first, and then quickly expounding on it through exploration of light and perspective. The result is a full library of images in beautiful vignettes perfect for telling the story of your brand in many avenues, especially the ever-important world of social media.
